Human trafficking has been described as the trade of human beings usually with the purpose of forced labor, sexual slavery, or sexual exploitation for the trafficker or other (Kiss, & Zimmerman,2019). It is also important to note that human trafficking is for forced labor or the extraction of body organs and ova removal. It is important to note that different factors are important and which then make individuals predisposed to human trafficking. This paper will therefore discuss the different factors that promote human trafficking, and what makes the victims the victims of human trafficking (Kiss, & Zimmerman,2019). It is important to note that anyone can be a victim of human trafficking with no regard to their nationality age, gender, or the socioeconomic status of the individuals in the community. It is also important to note that certain populations are considered to be vulnerable and that they can easily be targeted by the traffickers since they are caught up in situations that provide an avenue for their exploitation.

The youth are the most vulnerable group of individuals that are most targeted by the traffickers (Kiss, & Zimmerman,2019). Mostly the youths want ways out of unfavorable situations such as the lack of access to resources. The youths come from harsh backgrounds that in most cases involve broken families and a case of abuse either in the past or in the present. Also, the youth who have a history of growing up in homes or foster care (Matos et al., 2019). It is important to note that the different factors do not have to be in the present to make the youths the victims of trafficking. The factors may have happened in the past but had a great impact on the life of the individuals that it would warrant them to run away from home (Kiss, & Zimmerman,2019). It is important to note that majority of the youths fall victims as a result of economic exploitation and most of them are used for commercial sexual activities by their traffickers (Matos et al., 2019). Age is also an important factor in the trafficking of humans. It has been noted that the common ages of the youths that enter prostitution are between the ages of 13 and 16 which is also an important factor that the traffickers look at.

It is also true that the majority of the individuals that are victims of human trafficking are running away from hard economic situations and that they are usually promised good economic situations by their traffickers (Matos et al., 2019). Therefore it is important to conclude that poverty is a leading factor in the determination of the victims of human trafficking. The victims of human trafficking must find help from the government in the prevention of human trafficking (Matos et al., 2019). Human traffickers should be punished by law to reduce the number of trafficking in the area. It is also important to note that the poverty levels of the individuals should be improved to prevent them from being victims of human trafficking (Matos et al., 2019).
